No, we don't have LASIK surgery facility available in the hospital,
however,
clear lens implantation (ICL) for patients requiring high myopia correction is performed at
our centre.
Q2: Is it better to get surgeries in winters?
Modern day cataract surgeries require only 4 hours of post operation
waiting
time, the recovery of a surgery is not affected by the temperature.
Q3: What are the types of lenses available for cataract surgery?
We provide all types of Intraocular lenses including multifocal foldable
lenses, Edoff lenses which help in intermediate distance correction as well as non-foldable
rigid lenses.
Q4: What is the cost of a cataract surgery?
The price charged depends on the type of surgery and lens used, surgery
prices range from ₹15,000 to ₹1.5 lakh.
Q5: What are the common symptoms and diagnosis of Retina problems?
Common symptoms include the sudden appearance of floaters (small specks
or
threads in your vision), flashes of light, a dark shadow or "curtain" over part of your
vision, blurred or distorted vision, and loss of central or peripheral vision. These
symptoms, especially if sudden, warrant immediate medical attention as they can indicate a
serious condition like retinal detachment.
Q6: How often should I see a retina specialist?
Healthy adults should have comprehensive eye exams every 1-2 years. If
you
have risk factors such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high myopia, or a family history of
retinal diseases, annual or bi-annual check-ups are recommended.
Q7: Will my eyes be dilated at every visit?
Yes, for the doctor to get a clear view of the retina at the back of
your
eye, your pupils will need to be dilated. Your vision may be blurry and sensitive to light
for a few hours afterward, so it's advisable to arrange for transportation to and from your
appointment.
Q8: How long does recovery take after retina surgery?
Recovery time varies based on the procedure. For laser or freezing
treatments, it may take 1-2 weeks. More complex surgeries like vitrectomy may require
several weeks to months for full recovery, with final vision stabilizing around six months
after surgery.
Q9: Will I need to position my head a certain way after surgery?
If a gas bubble is used during surgery, you will likely need to maintain
a
specific head position (e.g., face down or on your side) for a period of several days to two
weeks to help the retina heal properly. It is also critical to avoid flying in an airplane
or significant altitude changes until the bubble is gone, as changes in air pressure can
cause the bubble to expand and damage the eye.
